Inside Look at Jeff Bezos’ $500 Million Superyacht and Operating Costs
Jeff Bezos, the second-richest man on the planet, is making waves with his latest extravagant purchase – the tallest sailing yacht in the world. The 417-foot Koru, priced at a whopping $500 million, has been cruising the seas since 2023, serving as a luxurious floating mansion for Bezos and his guests.
Complete with three massive 229-foot masts and a top speed of 20 knots, the Koru is a sight to behold. With room for up to 18 guests, Bezos can bring along family and friends on his lavish vacations. The yacht boasts three outdoor decks, two swimming pools, a cinema, lounges, and multiple business areas, all dripping with luxury.
But the extravagance doesn’t stop there. The Koru comes with its own support vessel, the $75 million Abeona, featuring a helipad and space for extra gear, jet skis, and even a small submarine. With a crew of up to 36 on the Koru and 45 on the Abeona, operating these floating palaces is no small task.
The annual operating costs for the Koru alone amount to approximately $25 million, with an additional $5 to $10 million for the Abeona’s maintenance. And when it comes to parking fees, even the sky’s the limit for Bezos. Docking the Koru in Fort Lauderdale cost $16,500 per week, as it was too big to fit in the port with other superyachts.
Despite the astronomical expenses, Bezos is living well within his budget, with a net worth of $203.8 billion. His lavish lifestyle and extravagant purchases continue to capture the attention of the world, as he sails the seas in style aboard his $500 million superyacht.
