Kentucky Primary Election 2024: Voting Guide and Information

The Kentucky primary election is just around the corner, with voting set to take place on Tuesday, May 21. In preparation for the upcoming election, early voting has already concluded, with over 75,000 Kentuckians casting their ballots. The primary will determine the candidates for the November general election, with races including Louisville Metro Council and various state and U.S. House seats.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day, and voters can find their polling locations online. Kentucky operates on a closed primary system, meaning voters must be registered with a specific political party to participate in their primary. Absentee voting has also passed, with mail-in ballots required to be received by 6 p.m. on election day.

As part of Commitment 2024 coverage, WLKY is providing comprehensive information for voters, including a breakdown of races, voting locations, and what to bring to the polls.
