Expansion of Jeff Bezos’ Tuition-Free Montessori Preschools in Texas
The billionaire Jeff Bezos is making headlines once again, this time for expanding his chain of tuition-free Montessori-inspired preschools with the launch of 10 new locations throughout the state of Texas. According to WFAA, parents can now enroll their children in these schools for free, with campuses already established in various cities such as Old East Dallas, North Dallas, Lancaster, and Cockrell Hill, and plans for more in Denton, Oak Cliff, Houston, and San Antonio.
Bezos, who attributes his own success to the Montessori preschool education he received, has made it a priority to provide this opportunity to children from families who make under $120,000 per year. The schools cater to children aged three to five years old, offering a lottery selection process for enrollment.
With about 50 percent of young children in the U.S. not enrolled in preschool due to accessibility and affordability issues, Bezos Academy aims to bridge this gap by covering all operating costs, including meals and snacks for the students. The recent expansion in Texas follows the opening of a new school in Louisville, Kentucky, earlier this year.
Applications for Bezos Academy are currently open, providing families with the chance to give their children a quality education at no cost. This initiative has been praised by local officials and community members for its positive impact on the education system.
